Our California Baby

We spent three months of Eliana Marie's life in California. We took 3 weeks (Our stops were Nashville, Dallas, Austin, El Paso, San Antonio and San Diego.)
 and arrived the day she came home from the hospital. She is an easy, happy baby. We are so blessed.

We flew home after 3 months with Cloey and Zoey and are lucky they haven't banned us from all flights! just kidding. We were lucky because the flight attendants were so nice and the middle seat was empty so guess who got to sit there?!! On the way back in June we weren't so lucky. I complained to Jet Blue and got $200 back. 

In any case we arrived in Sacramento the night of June 5 and while taking pics and playing with Eliana the next morning I got a call that my mom had passed. I am in shock and denial and because we are back in CA, it is much easier to not really realize she is gone. 

We will be at Sac West for a month and then will take our time heading home. This is the first time in 20 years I haven't worried about my mom...still. 

Going home I will try to document our stops. It isn't always easy because of our Internet reception.

Cancer: I'm Scared

2/21/2022 I don't know what triggered this feeling. I have been fine. Last night we were with the grandkids, other grandparents, the grandkids' parents and a couple of others. Maybe being in such a happy gathering did it. I am not going to speculate but I came home and cried.  I cried for my daughters and my best friend who lives on the other side of the country. I cried in fear of what I would hear from the BRCA test. I cried for what was.

After Surgery: What is it like

 3/15/2022 Although I am on pain meds and a little loopy, I wanted to get my surgery day down before I forget. I don't know if this is the protocol of all breast surgeries, but I saw a lot of people!  At 7:45 I was taken into the pre-op area where I was asked my name and birthdate a dozen times. So many times, that when a woman walked in, I just said my name and birthdate. She laughed and said that she knew my name but not my birthdate. "I'm Dr. Baker." Well of course I didn't recognize her. I only met her one time, and she had a net on her head and a mask and plastic covering her face. She had on scrubs so there was no white coat. In any case I was asked by lots of nurses health questions, got an IV put in with at some point saline and an antibiotic and off I went to Nuclear Medicine and saw a machine that looked like it was from outer space.
