Thinking about hitting the road

Image
Georgie, our motor home, is at the dealer getting a check-up. Our first trip will be to Connecticut (Ok not a big trup) so we can visit our daughter and our very very good friends (Jo's for 44 years!). We don't hike like this but Jo found a really cool blog which gives 23 Simple and Effective Hiking Hacks. We don't know the person and there are ads but if you are looking for ways to fix your blisters, set up your tent, etc. this is a goody. Valentine's Day crafts DIY

Image
Although this is considered a craft for kids, I am going to turn it into a business adventure like I did the reindeer candy canes (below), which were a big hit. I think I will mix up the candy - perhaps use small bags of pretzels and other healthier choices for people who I know don't eat sugar, etc. The card will go on the heart. I will post a picture after I make it. All it takes is a strip of green paper, an elastic around the candy to make it look like a butterfly. pipe cleaners and a heart, which could be made of foam, paper, felt or anything you have around the house

Crafts on the road & martketing ideas

Image
This blanket I am making (see post below) is getting very boring. I am going back to my frilly scarves while on the road even though after making so many I couldn't wait to stop. I will buy some more frilly yarn. They were big sellers so perhaps people at campgrounds will love them too. Speaking of which, I got my business cards from 123 Print rather than the ones on the right from Vista Print. Vista Print was going to take too long and am attaching the candy cane reindeer craft to them to give out as well. Hoping to drum up some business.

Using a rake as a bird feeder

Image
I love this idea while on the road! I have always envied people who had bird feeders but this is such an easy way to feed the birds I don't have to do what others do and bring feeders. We'll bring a rake, which is nice to have to rake the site and then just fill some netting with bird feed. Tie one or more nets to the rake and voila! The rake serves two purposes. Remember before you put that rake in a landfill to use it as a bird feeder.

Candy Canes Reindeer

Image
These are so cute and even if you don't celebrate Christmas like we don't, these would be fun to give out to other campers!! Two candy canes back to back tied with yarn or material-covered wire, which I can get at Joanne's or Michael's. I'm taking my glue gun with me and voila - what a nice way to say "Hi, happy holidays. "

This is a great idea for a craft on the road and a great way to repurpose/recycle.  source

DIY a.k.a Do it yourself

Jo hurt her back many years ago. The only relief was standing so she starting crafting. Yup we went to a couple of craft shows and eventually her back got better. These were something easy she made and might very well do some while on the road. All you need are washcloths and bars of soap. You can see that the something is under the washcloth. In this case the decorations are reindeer themed but any decoration bought from a craft store will work. A cute tag will top it off. Jo bought a stamp that says "Made with love." She puts them on her blankets and scarves and they add a nice touch.
