EASY Fudge Recipe

They don't come much easier than this! I usually make it even easier and will for sure when we are on the road by using disposable pans. We recycle everything so a few "bad habits" we can live with. You will need: 2 cups milk chocolate chips 2 1/2 cups prepared chocolate frosting 1 cup chopped walnuts Line one 8x8 inch square pan with foil. Lightly butter the foil. In a small saucepan melt the chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove the melted chocolate from the heat and stir in the frosting and the nuts stirring until smooth. Pour into the prepared pan and refrigerate until firm. Once firm cut in small squares. From All Recipes

This hybrid of Chanukah and Thanksgiving holiday comes around only once in a lifetime. This year the first day of Chanukah falls on Thursday, November 28, 2013, Thanksgiving. Next time these two holidays will collide will be in 77,798 years.

Jewish Food: Recipe for Bubbe's Kugel

Image
I am not much of a cook but have tried to make some dishes around various holidays. They can't be replicated in a supermarket because for the most part the recipes are handed down from one generation to the next. These recipes aren't found in cookbooks and every family has a slight variation in their "formula." My grandmother was the first person I watched cook. In Yiddish, Bubbe - sounds look goody- means grandmother. They say that smells conjure up feelings and that makes a lot of sense. Do you know that the best smell to have in your house if it is for sale is bread baking? My Bubbe also made great apple pies, but my one attempt was a disaster. After she died when I was 15 my mom took over making the kugels. No one makes them better than my Bubbe did; though my mom's are better than mine are. A kugel is a noodle pudding. I have grown up with it so it is a food that is commonplace especially around the holidays. Kugels, though, can be eaten at any ti...
