Same view, same gas problem, same "I don't want to do this"

but a different place,  It is Tuesday and the hearings gave us a little something to do while driving but I am just uncomfortable all the time. Anyway, I'm really trying not to complain because I am blessed.  Once out of CA we hit Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa and now Illinois. Geneseo campground is nice and the kind of place that if we didn't have timing issues, we'd stay another day just to chill but tomorrow on we go.  Our destination is New York where our oldest daughter lives and is not feeling well. In the meantime, our younger daughter got a job in a NYC hospital so we will help her move and help out with the sick one and see our friends!!! Yay We have done so little (though I did buy a postcard for the grands- finally) that there isn't much to say but I will try to get my boring pictures up. Til we meet again. Jo  Travel pics (I do have a good camera, but they don't come out very good moving and through a window covered with dead poop!  miserable...

On the Road Again!

I must start by saying this was a horrible day for women. The Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade, something that had been threatened but never thought would happen.   Finally- Today is June 25, 2022 and we left last Thursday the 23rd and it feels like a year. I used to get paid to review anything. Fitness equipment was my big money maker but I wrote about every place we went, every restaurant in which we ate, ever appliance I used. I was number 1 at epinions.com, which no longer exists.  I am quite happy I can do things and enjoy it not write a review in my head while watching a movie.  Our first stop was Nevada and after spending hours trying to find a campground with an open site we gave up. I think the end for me was the dusty campground with a confederate flag on a car. In any case the man working was helpful and he did lead us to a legitimate rest stop that allowed camping for 24 hours .I will say the restaurant/bar smelled yummy.  We didn't sleep well sin...

Radiation #30 Done!! and super quotes from my soul to yours about familial relationships

Image
Yay, it was great to wake up today knowing I don't have radiation, a doctor's appointment or need a scan! I am getting together with three great friends.  I have to see my radiation oncologist in a week, and I have follow-up appointments with the lymphedema person and my medical oncologist.   Here's to my exemestane, which I will start tomorrow at dinner tim e not giving me intolerable side effects!  Elliott used to say,  "What if we get estranged from the adult kids?" We  moved to CA to see the little ones grow up. I thought he was silly to ever think that. We were there for them 24/7 - babysitting, watching Dylan when they forgot his passport for a family vacation in Mexico.  Now in the time of our neediest they have stopped talking with us. I text Elliott's son (my step- son) so we can see the kids but from Jessica nothing. From the get-go we never got a text (How are you doing?) a card from the kids, a meal sent from the local Thai restauran...

Help I have sun poisening

June 9,2022  OMG things have been going as smoothly as possible. Because I am so broken out, Dr. K decided to Boost me (target) for several days. I now have a four-day break to go to New York.  Wearing a bra is so uncomfortable and I want to wear my new compression bra for the flight, so I'll try to find tricks like cotton balls!  I'm almost done with radiation. I then start my hormone blocker, which I had no side  effect from so many years ago, but I'm older and who knows!! I do my lymphedema exercises but that can rear it's ugly head at any time and my "rash" can last for years. It's when I hear those things that I get discouraged. I'll never be my normal so I have to find a new normal.

Not such a great week and quotes

except for the first time in years, I woke up not tired. I have no idea why.  I'm starting to get red. We are having CA family problems I will be on a medication for 5 to 10 years.  My sleeve is so tight. The woman who fit me told me to come in. I know she will blame us for how it is being put on, but I will show it to Dr. K. tomorrow. \To sum up my weeks here are some memes: 6 Types of People Who Love Playing the Victim & How to Deal with Them - Learning Mind (learning-mind.com) “If they stay away during your hard times, they should also stay away during your great times.” ―  Gift Gugu Mona

Compression OMG should it be so tight??

Image
May 10, 2022 I finished day 6 of my radiation treatments. Twenty-four to go. OMG! They are not that bad or uncomfortable. I don't have trouble holding my breath. It is more of facing reality. So far so good regarding burns or unusual changes in my skin.  I took my "prescription" for compression items to the local Medical Supply Company. Maybe they should have given me a size 2 I think my arm is getting numb.  There were questions about which glove and if I need a bra or t-shirt so I will go back after we have those answers. I REALLY don't want lymphedema so if this stops it I will wear it for as long as they tell me.  These compression items are only supposed to last 6 months and then I need to buy a new one. The new one is not going to be boring beige that's for sure and many times less costly than the one I have.

What a Day! Day 1

Image
May 3, 2022 Started the day at 8a.m. with a meeting for lymphedema. Spent 1 1/2 hours with a nurse who poked, measured and talked with us.  I am writing this for me because I want to keep track of my symptoms. We will go to a medical supply store for compression items. I have my measurements in case I buy something online. Hoping that insurance will pay because four items is over $500.00.  I was sent home with a bunch of exercises to do and to try to keep lymphedema at bay. I will do those and walked with the Elliott and the doggies this morning, The dogs had gone to the groomer, so we picked them up and Elliott surprised me.  From there we took them home and turned around for #1 radiation. It was very much like the dry run just more deep breaths and radiation running through my chest. Pretty sucky really.  Got Willie for our cross-country trip just to make sure he is in working order.  Last night there was some swelling under my armpit and this morning I ...
